Product Empties + Mini Reviews!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 31st August 2014

Hello everyone!

Today I’ll be showing you all the products I love and have used up recently.

1. Chambor Silver Shadow Compact in the shade “RR2 Rose Pale”

E1

This is an amazing product and has been in my makeup bag for about 4 years now. I always have a back up of this. It has a little coverage, keeps me matte for a long time, doesn’t look cakey and is great for touch ups. The shade is a perfect match for me and it comes with a refill. What more could I want?

2. Lakme Radiance Compact in the shade “Pearl”

Almost every college girl has used this at some point since this is easily accessible and inexpensive. I remember going through a ton of these during my high school / college days! This has been in my kit for a long time. I do not use this as much now since I’ve moved on to better powders but I finally finished it! I probably will not repurchase this but it is a great little handy product for touch ups for people on a budget.

3. Maybelline The Falsies Volume Express Mascara

E3

I have been a fan of this mascara for almost 2 years now. I am yet to find a mascara that lengthens my lashes better than this does. I use a combination of two mascaras whenever I apply makeup, a lengthening one and a volumizing one. I do have fairly long lashes to begin with but this gives me incredible length with two coats, doesn’t clump and lasts throughout the day! I am currently using a new one and I will continue to repurchase this until I find a magical mascara that gives me unbelievable lashes! 😛

4. Maybelline The Colossal Volume Express Mascara

This is the volumizing mascara in my routine. It separates each lash while coating it with blackness and gives the look of extremely voluminous lashes. Maybelline mascaras tend to be a bit more wet than the rest but that works well for me as I like my mascaras to be on the wetter side. The combination of these two mascaras gives me the best possible results yet and I’ve received a lot of compliments on my lashes when I’m wearing these two together. I am using a new one of this too.

5. Maybelline The Hyper Curl Volume Express Mascara

On its own, this mascara is great for those natural days when you don’t want extreme volume or length but just want your face to look more awake and your lashes to appear more black. I hardly have those days when I wake up thinking I want natural lashes today, but this works well when I’m layering it with other ones. I am not sure if I’ll repurchase this.

6. The Body Shop Skin Primer Matte It

E2

I do not have large pores but this makes my skin appear slightly smoother and helps my foundation go on more evenly. It also increases the lasting power of my makeup and instantly mattifies the skin upon application. I am currently using a back up of this.

THE BODY SHOP COMPLETE STRAWBERRY RANGE REVIEW

7. Lotus Herbals Safe Sun UV Screen Matte Gel SPF 50

Lotus Herbals’ sunscreens are great for oily skin. This almost works like a primer and feels fresh and matte. This is my favorite sunscreen and I always have a backup of this. I haven’t found a better sunscreen that works so well for oily skin.

8. The Body Shop Tea Tree Pore Minimizer

I love this product! I use it to spot treat a blemish or redness. It even works well as a primer and refines pores. I can’t say if it helps minimize the size of pores because I do not have large pores but I do love using it as a skincare product and sometimes under makeup. I am using a back up of this and I will repurchase it once it finishes.

9. Chambor Powder Matte Lipstick in the shade “175 Sugar Pink”

E5

Finishing a lipstick is a big deal for me as I have a ton of them! This is a lovely peachy pink nude shade that is perfect for everyday. I may not repurchase this anytime soon since I have so many similar shades in my collection that I want to go through first. Read my review on CHAMBOR POWDER MATTE LIPSTICKS

10. Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in the shade “Ivory”

This is probably the fourth one that I have finished. It works really well to hide under eye darkness. I also use it to highlight certain areas of my face. It is handy for touch ups and you only need a small amount. I love that it has medium coverage which makes it buildable. It is a great inexpensive dupe for YSL Touche Eclat. I already have one that I am presently using and I will definitely repurchase it.

11. Maybelline The Colossal Kajal

E4

This is a makeup staple for many girls out there and happens to be mine too. It is very black, easy to apply and stays on for a fair amount of time. I love that this is great value for money. ( Tip – If you find that your kajal smudges throughout the day, smudge it a little beforehand with an ear bud/pencil brush/smudge brush as soon as you apply it. Then set it with a matte black powder eye shadow. Your kajal should stay in place the entire day! )

12. Faces Eye Pencil in the shade “Metal Brown”

I love using brown eyeliner pencil around the eyes to define the shape and then use black in the inner rims of my eyes and on top very close to the lashline. I find that brown is not harsh at all and this one has little shimmer particles. It happens to be very creamy and doesn’t tug on the eyes. A few seconds after application, it sets and then stays for a long time so if you want to smudge it, you have to work very quickly.. I have gone through atleast 5-6 of these and I will repurchase this soon once I finish other liners.

13. Colorbar iGlide Eye Pencil in the shade “Cocobar”

This is an amazing eye pencil. It glides on smoothly without tugging the slightest bit on the delicate eyelid area. The dark brown color is exactly what I wanted. It stays on for a long time without disappearing and is completely matte. I will definitely repurchase this once I finish some of my other brown liners. In fact, I would like to try more shades of this.

What’s In My August 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 21st August 2014

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag arrived today and I was really looking forward to this month’s bag because they’d promised “natural” products. This is what the bag looks like :

Fab0

The bag is a snakeskin orange. These bags are so useful for travel and storing things.

The theme this month was “All Natural, All Fab”

Fab2

Here is what I received this month :

1. Kronokare Caribbean Ginger Shower Gel & Lotion

Fab5

I’m not thrilled about the ginger scent but the fact that these products don’t have parabens and other harsh chemicals intrigues me. The shower gel lathers up well and the lotion is moisturizing but not oily. I’ve lost count of how many shower gels and body lotions I’ve received from FabBag. The only one that I really enjoyed was by The Nature’s Co and it was a coconut scented one!

2. Nyassa Hand Cream – Alphonso

Fab6

This is what Mango Heaven must smell like! It is softening and the scent! Oh, the scent! It smells like mango sugar boiled candy. Who doesn’t love mangoes? I’m definitely keeping this in my handbag and I may get the full size once this finishes.

3. Palladio Herbal Mascara – Black

Fab3

I love the idea of having a brow and lash comb so handy. The mascara is not extremely volumizing but it is great for those “natural lashes” days. I’m glad I got a black version though!

4. BONUS : Nyx Eye/Eyebrow Pencil – 903 Bleu Roi

Fab4

This pencil is so creamy and doesn’t drag on the eyelids at all. I got a blue one so I’m definitely not using this on my brows. But, on the eyes it looks great. I’m very happy with this product.

So this is what I got overall :

Fab1

I’m happy with this month’s bag. I didn’t get any frosted lipstick nonsense or lip glosses that I’m not gonna use! Ginger shower gel and lotion aside, all the other products are amazing. This is one of the best FabBags they’ve sent out. I like that there was a mix of beauty and makeup products because most of us prefer to receive makeup.

How To Make Your Makeup Last All Day!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 17th August 2014

Hello everyone!

India is hot as ever and it has been raining on and off. In this heat and muggy weather, our makeup just doesn’t wanna stay on our face. So, here are a few of my tips and tricks to extend the longevity of your hard working paint and to look fresh through out the day!

1. PRIMER

M1

The hoopla around priming is real. It gives your foundation something to stick to and as a result, your makeup stays on longer. It also fills in your pores and helps make your skin appear smoother. It is advisable to apply your primer and wait for a few minutes for it to settle, then continue with your foundation-concealer-compact.

2. FOUNDATION

If you have oily skin, you will benefit from using a powder foundation. If you have any other skin type and/or prefer liquids and creams, make sure they dry slightly more matte than others and claim to be long lasting. Stay away from words like “dewy”, “glowy”, “hydrating”, “moisturising” etc as foundations which have these qualities usually aren’t very long lasting. ( unless you have extremely dry skin and don’t sweat too much )

3. POWDER/COMPACT

M4

I cannot stress the importance of powder, especially so during this time of the year. Powder helps set your cream products into place like foundation, concealer, cream blush, cream highlight, cream contour etc. It helps you stay matte for longer and is great for touch ups!

4. EYE BROW WAX/GEL

If you’re like me and you like defining your brows then you may need a little extra help to keep them looking nice and bold throughout the day. Use an eyebrow wax before you fill them in with powder. For added longevity, you can use an eyebrow gel to hold them in place for the rest of the day ( or spray some strong hold hairspray onto a spooley/eye brow brush and comb it through your brows )

5. EYE SHADOW BASE

M3

An eye shadow base will go a long way in keep your eye shadows looking vibrant and in place throughout the day. You can use a proper eye shadow base or even cream shadows and set them with powders for extra bang. Eye shadow bases also give something to your powder shadows to stick to and help them appear more pigmented.

6. WATERPROOF MASCARA

M5

This is kind of an obvious one because nobody wants to end up with Panda eyes if they sweat or if it rains! I use waterproof mascaras throughout the year because they hold a curl longer. You also want to make sure that your eye liner is waterproof.

7. CREAM BLUSH

M6

Believe it or not, cream blushes stay on for a much longer amount of time than powders. Use them over foundation and before compact. If you want your blush to last longer, apply some powder blush on top and you’ll be rosy till the end of the night.

8. LIP PRODUCTS

M7

I happen to be biased towards matte lips the whole year round so especially during this time, gloss goes out of the window for me. I also like using lip stains as they stay on the lips and don’t feather out like glosses may ( even if it rains ).

9. MAKEUP SETTING SPRAY

M2

A makeup setting spray will instantly add hours to your makeup. Many companies make such sprays and they’re well worth the mention. This is usually the last step to my makeup before leaving the house.

I hope this was helpful!

What’s In My July 2014 Fab Bag?

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Sunday, 3rd August 2014

Hello everyone!

My Fab Bag subscription ended in May but I was so fed up of receiving vivel, cetaphil and body washes that I didn’t want to renew. So, I skipped on the June Fab Bag. After reading some raves about the July Bag I decided to renew my subscription.

This is what the bag looks like :

Fab2

The theme this month was “Double Trouble”!

Fab3

Here is what I received this month :

1. Iraya Wheatgerm Facial Massage Creme

Fab5

I’m only 22 and I don’t really believe in facials unless you’re 30. So, this is a waste product for me. I might give it to someone or use it as a body moisturizer. This would’ve been a great product for someone over 30.

2. BioBloom Hair Strengthening Oil + Cleanser Kit

Fab7

I would like to try the oil but the shampoo has a very pungent Ginger/Herb scent. I’m not sure if I want that kind of scent in my hair!

3. Deborah Milano II Rossetto Lipstick – 516 + Lipliner – 07

Fab4

I wonder when FabBag will stop sending me frosted lipsticks. I have received three frosted lipsticks now including this and I don’t wear frosted lipstick. What a shame! I’ll have to give it to someone too. The lip liner is lovely though. I wish they had sent only a full sized lip liner instead.

4. Free Sample – Vivel Cell Renew Deep Smoothing Body Lotion.

Fab6

Since this is a bonus product, I’m not going to complain too much but this is the second time we have received the same lotion and Vivel! Really? Vivel!

Anyway, here is what I got overall :

Fab1

This was an unfortunate bag for me. Had I been someone who is over 30 and enjoys facials or wears frosted lipstick, I would’ve been ecstatic but sadly, I am not. They really should pay attention to their consumer’s needs and preferences. Especially when they have all the information required because we fill a quiz.
