Sleek Pout Paint Review : Shade 159 Port, 155 Lava and 157 Pin Up!

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Thursday, 24th October 2013

Hello everyone!

First of all, I am a huge fan of Sleek Makeup. I wish they had a store in India or retailed here, but they deliver internationally so I am good 😛 I have their amazing iDivine eye shadow palette and their blushes and contour kit. I am never disappointed by Sleek for their high quality and affordable prices.

Their blush in “Rose Gold” is wonderful and a great dupe for Nars “Orgasm”. Read a detailed review HERE

I am reviewing the Sleek Pout Paints in the shades 159 Port, 155 Lava and 157 Pin Up.

What Sleek Says :

A truly unique lip product, Pout Paint is a highly pigmented lip stain like no other. It provides full coverage that is light weight, non sticky and extremely buildable. It is made to be mixed, we’re pretty sure you’ll want more than one colour.

Pout Paint can be mixed with any of the varying shades to create a unique colour that is exclusive to you.

Available in 11 shades.

3ml/0.27fl.oz

Not tested on animals.

Store in a cool dry place.

Ingredients :

Polyisobutane, Polybutene, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Beeswax, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Butylated Hydroxy Anisole, Glycol Distearate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcic (Sweet Almond)Oil, Octyl Palmitate, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Squalene, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin and Fragrance. May contain: Titanium dioxide. Suitable for vegetarians. Not suitable for vegans.

Price : $6.49 ( Approximately Rs. 400/- )

My Thoughts On The Product :

It comes in a tiny tube with a cap that screws shut. I like how the tube is transparent so it doesn’t get lost in my collection and the colors are easy to differentiate.

The product is dispensed by a small nozzle which is good because the Pout Paint is EXTREMELY pigmented. I have to be careful not to take too much product out as you only need the tiniest drop to coat the entire lips.

Image

What is best about this product is that it is long wearing (more than 7 hours) without being drying. It gives a semi glossy finish upon application which turns to a matte finish after the gloss wears off. It is non sticky, spreads wonderfully well and does not settle into lines or become patchy even hours after application. But, it would definitely apply better if your lips are exfoliated and moisturized. Since the pigment is too strong, it might adhere to dry patches.

The only downside is that you will need a lip brush to apply it. It can be spread with fingertips but the product is so pigmented that you will want to define the lip contour with a brush. There are nude shades available too for those of you who do not like such bold lip colours.

I find this to be such a fun product. They can be mixed with each other to create your own personal shade. They also have a white one to lighten any other shade and a blue one to darken. They are considered to be the cheaper dupes of the famous OCC Lip Tars!

Sometimes the product can separate within the tube but that can easily be fixed by pressing and rolling the tube and mixing the products back into place.

The shade “Port” is a deeply pigmented Plumy Pink Shade. It can be worn heavily to create a beautiful fall/winter appropriate look and it can also be blotted down to create a pretty fuchsia stained lip.

This is how it looks on my lips :

The shade “Lava” is a bright neon orange shade. This can also be worn heavily to rock a neon orange pout or could be muted down to a light orange stain.

This is how it looks on my lips :

The shade “Pin Up” is a bright juicy red. Again, this can be worn heavily to achieve the old Hollywood glamorous look or sheered down to a more wearable everyday red.

This is how it looks on my lips :

The GOOD :

1. Amazingly pigmented

2. Long wearing

3. Non drying

4. Smooth consistency that is easy to spread

5. Transparent tube

6. Supremely staining

7. Inexpensive

8. You only need a small quantity to coat the entire lips so it will last very long

The NOT SO GOOD :

1. Need a lip brush for application otherwise it can get messy

2. May adhere to dry patches on chapped lips

OVERALL :

I am quite happy with the product. They are an amazing option for people who like to create their own colours and play with makeup. They can also work as a good long wearing base under lipsticks by blotting some of it away and applying lipstick on top.

Amazing Inexpensive Products! <3

By Aishwarya Kaushal, Friday, 6th September 2013

Hello everyone, today I will be talking about my favorite drugstore products that are inexpensive and perform just as well and even better than high end products. These products are readily available and easy on the pocket! Now who doesn’t love that?

You might want to sit down comfortably with a coffee because this is going to be a long post since I have a lot to share! 🙂

FACE :

1. Lakme Absolute Mattreal Skin Natural Mousse

d15

This is my favorite foundation for sheer coverage and it looks really natural. Plus it costs only Rs. 599/-

2. Chambor Sheer Delight Ultra Matte Foundation

d16

This is also one of my favorites. It looks very natural and this shade matches me exactly! It costs Rs. 799/-

I really only use sheer foundations since I do not have problematic skin. It is  just really oily. So, I don’t like to cover it up with full coverage foundation. When I do ever want to use full coverage foundation, it is pretty much always Revlon Colorstay for Combination/Oily skin.

3. Maybelline Clear Glow Compact

d9

This compact has some amount of coverage and it instantly brightens up the skin. At only Rs. 175/-, this product is a steal. It does not have that powder matte effect and it looks natural on the skin.

4. Maybelline Clear Glow BB Stick

d10

This is a very easy product to use. Just swipe it on your face and blend. It blends beautifully, looks natural and provides sheer coverage. Very oily people can use this in the winters but in summers it makes the face shiny. However, this is great for normal skinned people and even dry skin over moisturizer. Available only in two shades though, for Rs. 250/-

4. Lakme Absolute Moonlit Highlighter

d14

I love the bronzer side of this! It gives that beautiful sun kissed look and its great for warming up the whole face slightly with a natural looking glow. The highlighter however has some chunky glitter that I am not too fond of on my cheeks. If you can move past that, the base is pinkish and makes the skin look beautiful and healthy. It looks ethereal in the inner corners of the eyes and both the shades can be used as eye shadow. Retails for Rs. 600/-

There are blushes in the Lakme Absolute range too that are really good!

EYES :

1. Garnier Anti Dark Circle Eye Roll-On

d6

I don’t like to use heavy duty concealers everyday. This shade is perfect for my under eye area and brightens them up. But, it only gives sheer to medium coverage. If you have really stubborn dark circles, I would recommend the Colorbar Pot Concealer which is worth Rs. 500/- and comes in multiple shades with pink and yellow undertones.

This however, comes in only two shades. “Light” and “Dark”. The light shade luckily is perfect to liven up my face. It retails for Rs. 199/-

2. Faces Long Wear Eye Pencil

d11

This is a beautiful eye pencil that glides on smoothly and doesn’t tug on the delicate eye area. It comes in multiples shades like blue, green, purple, brown, black, grey etc and I own 3-4 shades. Price Rs. 249/- to 349/-. The only drawback is that you have to sharpen it!

3. Lakme Eyeconic Kajal

d4

This glides on smoothly too and doesn’t tug on the waterline. It doesn’t need more than 3 swipes in the waterline to show full pigmentation and its very black! All this for only Rs. 200/- 😀

4. Maybelline Color Tattoo Eye Shadows

d7

These are extremely long wearing, waterproof cream eye shadows that are really easy to apply. Just swipe them all over the lid with your fingers and you’re done! They’re great for a quick look and stay put all day, even in the water. They come in a variety of shades and are sold for Rs. 350/- each.

5. Maybelline The Falsies and The Colossal Mascaras

d8

These two are my favorite mascaras and I have never found any other mascara  that works as well as they do! I like to use them together. Falsies for length and Colossal for volume. They give me voluminous lashes that actually look like I am wearing falsies! LOVE! ❤

Falsies – Rs. 425/-

Colossal – Rs. 330/-

I prefer the waterproof versions because they hold a curl better. But, they are a pain to remove! I am willing to bear the hassle of removing them if they make my lashes look amazing! 😛

6. Elle 18 Eye Sparklers Shadow Sticks

d13

These are intensely pigmented shadow sticks that are smooth and easy to work with. They can be used as a base for your shadows or on their own and they come in 5 shades. They don’t last as well as the color tattoos but for Rs. 85/- a pop, you cannot really go wrong!

7. Maybelline Diamond Glow Eye Shadow Quads

d5

This is my favorite quad. I like neutral shadows and this makes everything so easy. You can achieve a light natural look and also a smokey look with this quad. They are intensely pigmented and easy to blend. The first shade is a beautiful highlight shade and the third shade is a beautiful rose gold! 🙂

They come in quads of different colors too. Available for Rs. 450/-

8. Inglot Eye Shaodows

d17

They are very pigmented, stay on all day, easy to blend and come in a plethora of shades! A pan costs Rs. 300/- for one eye shadow and a pot will cost around Rs. 450/-

9. Maybelline Gel Eyeliner

d3

This works just as well as the Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner and is a hell of a lot cheaper! Intensely black, can be used as a liner or as a dark base all over the lid. It is waterproof and will not budge throughout the day! Price Rs. 500/-

LIPS :

1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

d12

They are my go to lip products! In fact I have used them so much that the lettering has come off and they have lost their pointy shape!

They stain the lips, stay all day and are comfortable to wear. The darker shades are more staining than the lighter ones. The glossiness will wear off in a while but the stain stays. I keep applying my regular lip balm throughout the day if I feel the need for moisture!

They retail for Rs. 600/- each.

2. Colorbar Lipsticks

d18

1. Colorbar Soft Touch Lipstick in “C 40 Citrine”. This is a great wearable reddish orange.

2. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “60 OR Obsessed Orange”.  This is a straight up neon orange.

3. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “63 P Shy Cherry”. This is a berry toned deep pink.

4. Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick in “61P Thrilling Pink”. This is a mauvy nudey pink.

The Soft Touch lipsticks from Colorbar are really easy to wear and last for 3-4 hours. Priced at Rs. 325/-

The Velvet Matte lipsticks are slightly drying but still comfortable to wear. They work well over a lip balm too and last for 3-4 hours. Priced at Rs. 250/-

All these come in multiple shades! There is a shade for everyone! 🙂

3. Maybelline Lipsticks

d19

1. Maybelline Superstay Lipstick in “Non Stop Red”. This is very beautiful pinkish red. – Rs. 525/-

2. Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in “BR41 Windsor Rose”. This is a wearable sheer red. – Rs. 250/-

3. Maybelline Colorsensational Moisture Extreme Lipstick in “CB41 Coral Pink”. This is a true coral pink shade. – Rs. 250/-

4. Maybelline Colorsensational Lipstick in “840 Coral Lustre”. This is an orange with shimmer. – Rs. 399/-

All of these lipsticks are great and all of them have a separate formula.

-The Superstay lipsticks are extremely long wearing but slightly drying.

-The Moisture Extreme range is almost as moisturizing as a lip balm and yet the lipsticks are beautifully pigmented. They are the most comfortable to wear but do not wear for a long time.

-The regular Colorsensational range has a watery shine and semi matte texture and they are also comfortable to wear.

4. Elle 18 Lipsticks

d20

1. Elle 18 Lipstick in “42 Coral Romance”. This is a beautiful nude coral.

2. Elle 18 Lipstick in “27 Rosy Blush”. This is bright red orange.

They have a balm in the center and wear for about 2-3 hours. Available in several shades and at Rs. 100/- each, you cannot really complain!

NAILS :

1. Lakme Nail Polishes

d1

The absolute range dries really fast and makes life quick and easy. But it may chip off on the 2nd day. Still worth it due to the crazy dry time! – Rs. 199/-

The Color Crush Range will dry in a few minutes but it will stay on longer. – Rs. 150/-

2. Revlon and L’Oreal Nail Polishes

d2

Revlon Top Speed nail polishes dry really quickly too and this silver shade is fully pigmented in just one swipe! Rs. – 210/-

L’Oreal nail polishes dry in normal time but these glitter ones dry quickly, I love them, the packaging reminds me of YSL and they are also available in plenty of shades! – Rs. 235/-

HAIR :

1. Matrix Biolage Deep Smoothing Serum

d22

Works just as well as a high end serum. smells great, reduces frizz, makes combing easier and makes the hair shinier.

Rs. 255/- for 100ml

2. Dove Elixir

d21

I love the packaging! It smells delightful and does good things to the hair like, add shine, reduce frizz and cure dryness in 30 minutes! It can also be used sparingly as a serum. Retails only for Rs. 185/-

So that is it for my drugstore gems!
